'The S.S. Sinking Ship'

Sam is a child of divorce with her mother living in Harlem and her father living in the Bronx. Her father was an accounting and is described by his coworkers as a squirrely but sweet fella. That was until he cheated on his wife with his secretary. Sam's mother was left with very little after the divorce but working as a waitress, she supported herself and Sam.

Sam loved her mother and like her mother, Sam was a mage with a talent for healing & manipulating water. When she was in her early teens, Sam lost her mother in a 'random act of violence' when walking home from the dinner that she worked at. She came to live with her father but didn't ever fit in with the uptown feel of his friends and "new" family. After a year and a half, her and her father were attacked by the same man who killed her mother. Her father, failing in every way as a father, sacrificed himself for Sam to get away.

After this, at the age of 14, she was adopted by Cairn; an old friend of her mothers. It was then that her study in magic became her primary focus while taking homeschooled classes at the Hidden headquarters to keep her safe through her training. She was one of many orphans from the New Age War. She had a great deal of talent but also a great deal of snark. She trained directly under Rachel Flores, babysat the young Belle Flores and trained with Nathan Drummond, directly under Cairn.
